David Ortega joins Orbita Max to coordinate distribution of Magic Journey to Africa
Orbita Max has hired David Ortega to coordinate the release of its new great cinematographic project in stereoscopic 3D, Magic Journey to Africa. David has been working in marketing and communications in the audiovisual industry for more than 15 years, in international companies such as EMI Music and Sony Pictures. More recently, he's focused on film releases, distribution of music concerts in cinema complexes, and he's specialized in distribution of 3D films, such as the recent U2 concert film, U2 3D.
Magic Journey to Africa is the first Spanish 3D film that has been shot in stereoscopic real image, in natural settings in Namibia, South Africa and Barcelona. Through a complex post-production process, CGI characters and the newest visual effects will be added to the real images shot last year. The film recently received the FICOD award to technological innovation, and is one of the most innovative film projects in Spain of recent years. The cast counts with Leonor Watling and the model Verónica Blume, on her first role in a cinema movie, although the main characters are kids and animals in Africa.
The release of the film is scheduled for the end of 2009 and David Ortega will be in charge of coordinating its international distribution in digital and conventional theatres, both in 2D and 3D. The film will also be released in large format theatres all over the world.
